ANCESTOR SPOTLIGHT: CATHERINO TORTELLI

ANCESTOR SPOTLIGHT: CATHERINO COMPARINI "RENO" TORTELLI

Grandpa was telling me a story a while back about somebody killed up north in a hunting accident years ago. I found newspaper articles about him. His name was Reno Tortelli. Reno was hunting with friends, and was shot and killed by another hunter in the area.

Reno was married to Olive Hinkley who would have been my Great Great Grandpa Gilbert Chartier's niece.

Reno was born to Italian Immigrant parents. He was born Aug 27, 1913 in Crystal Falls, MI. Reno had 1 older brother.
Reno & Olive had 1 son, Gary Tortelli.

Reno died Nov 1944. Reno is buried in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, MI.
One of the articles states that Mrs. Gilbert Chartier (Laura Rayome...my great great grandma) attended the funeral.

Olive remarried after Reno's death, and her 2nd husband died in 1949. Her 2nd husband was related to one of the men that was hunting with Reno at the time of his death.
