ANCESTOR SPOTLIGHT: NETTIE PEARL BROWN

ANCESTOR SPOTLIGHT: NETTIE PEARL BROWN

Nettie Pearl Brown was my great, grandmother. She was born March 14, 1893 in Prescott, Ontario, Canada. Nettie was the 2nd born child to Albert Brown & Carolyn Russell. She had an old brother, Albert Jr. Nettie's father, Albert, died when she was only 9 months old. Nettie's mother, Carolyn, was remarried to John Hayes. Carolyn & John had 5 children: John, MaryAnna, Vanessa, Sadie & James. These would be Nettie's half siblings.
Nettie married Archie Tripp on Feb 13, 1911 in Canada. Together they had 3 children: Helen Irene "Hilda", Harold Archibald (who died as an infant), and Olive Alberta.
Nettie arrived in Detroit on Dec 24, 1919 with her 2 daughters. They lived with Carolyn and John, and Nettie's half siblings. She was still technically married to Archie until 1925.
Nettie married Oscar John Smith (my great grandpa). Nettie & Oscar had 2 children: Shirley Frances, & Dale John.

Nettie's half sister, MaryAnna, married Grover Smith in 1922. I'm not 100% sure, but maybe this is how Nettie & Oscar met?
Nettie died on June 22, 1948 at age 55 in Eloise, Michigan.
Oscar remarried twice after Nettie's death.
