ANCESTOR SPOTLIGHT: JEROME RAYOME

Jerome Rayome was not only my 3rd great grandfather, but considered an important man in Iron Mountain, MI.
Jerome was born Oct 14, 1844 in Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada and died Nov 10, 1928 in Iron Mountain, MI. He is buried at Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
He was the 3rd born of 13 children to Joseph Rayome (spelled Rheaume) & Catherine Ampleman.
Jerome married Desanges Germain & together they had 7 children: Laura, Joseph, Mary, Lillian, Rose, Hilda & Alfred. Laura, his oldest daughter, was considered the 1st white child born in the upper peninsula.
Jerome was a carpenter & helped build the 1st frame dwelling in Iron Mountain.
